Performing Arts ‘Enlightening,’ ‘Beautiful’

With colorful costumes, Western and Chinese classical music and instruments, and a state-of-the-art digital backdrop, the performance displayed the best of traditional Chinese culture. The audience's reaction was enthusiastic.

Ms. Campos, a professional consultant, brought her parents to see the show as a holiday gift. “We love it, it’s wonderful it's been a wonderful performance," Ms. Campos said.

“This was a Christmas present to my mom and my dad, and they are delighted. The performers are amazing, in terms of their professionalism.”

Ms. Campos couldn’t pick a favorite dance. “We love them all,” she exclaimed. “Spectacular,” her mother added.

Mrs. Lyon, a financial adviser,  brought her friend, Mrs. Fowler, who loved the show. “The background is wonderful and the dancers are great.”

I like the costumes; they’re beautiful, and the dancing,” said Mrs. Lyon. “And I liked the glimpse into Chinese culture. I would say my favorite would be the flower girls [Welcoming Spring].

Ms. Willis, who was visiting from Washington D.C., thought the show was “Fantastic.”

“I was very surprised that such a divine company has come to Jacksonville, considering we are a small town. I love Asia, I love the Asian culture. I would like to see this show come back to Jacksonville.”

Soon-to-be certified teacher Mrs. Day called the show “Enlightening.”

“I didn’t expect the music to be so wonderful. It was beautiful.”

Tonight's was the last DPA performance in Florida this year after having played at Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall within the past week.

The company heads on to Durham, North Carolina for performances on Dec. 28.
